The K2007R 1000A AC TRUE RMS clamp meter from Major Tech is a testing tool that permits current measurements on live conductors without interrupting the circuit. The K2007R is an indispensable addition to the technician’s toolbox as its 33 mm diameter tear drop jaw makes it easy to work in tight spaces.

More than simply a current meter, the K2007R offers three functions in one:

  • A True-RMS current meter. AC is represented as a sine wave with changing amplitude, which means current measurements can vary at different points in time. True-RMS (root mean square) converts AC signals into similar DC signals and this provides a more accurate AC reading.
  • A True-RMS voltage meter.
  • A resistance meter. Measured in Ohms, resistance a measure of the opposition to the passage of current through a conductor.

The K2007R clamp meter can measure AC current up to 1000A and AC/DC voltage up to 600V. A resistance of up to 6kΩ can also be measured and it includes an audible continuity tester. If there is a circuit fault (a continuity of below 90Ω), the continuity buzzer instantly alerts the technician of a problem without requiring him/her to look at the meter.

The ergonomically over-moulded body has been designed to ensure comfort and convenience, allowing safe one-handed operation, while readings are presented on the clear LCD display. Test leads with protective caps are included in the box, along with two R03 1.5V batteries which provide about 170 hours of continuous measuring time.

A low-battery warning is displayed when the batteries fall below normal operating voltage and a sleep function automatically powers the device off after 10 minutes of inactivity.

To assist technicians in taking readings, the HOLD button ensures that the current reading is retained on the LCD display until it is dismissed. This allows for accurate measurements in hard to reach and dark spaces where instant readings may be misread.

Designed to the highest quality standards, this instrument has been tested according to International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61010-1 standards: CAT IV 300V and CAT III 600V. The K2007R is also rated IP40 to prevent the intrusion of small objects.
